Special Paint Finishes and Effects

Special Paint Finishes, sometimes called broken colour work, are used to provide texture and colour interest across today's eclectic interior design world.  I have worked in many important period country houses and also enjoy modern settings.  Through experience I offer fluency of finish with economy of means.  I show only a brief indication of the huge range of work in this most important field of my work.

Finishes include: Stippling, dragging, 'glaze and wipe', 'under the brush', flogging, a wide variety of combed applications, lacquer, dry plaster effects, glazing over aluminium, copper and other metallic leaf.  In addition to the conventional oil-based scumble glaze medium with artists pigments for broken colour, I use water-based scumble, emulsions, pearl lustre and other proprietery effect paints.  I have used hot gesso and dry colour in many traditional and modern rooms.
